There was a period of time when I thought about pursuing photography as a hobby, however the technical side seemed overwhelming. I finally decided to commit in 2017, which involved purchasing my first DSLR and keeping an open mind. I started the journey of learning the technical and creative concepts through mentorship, books, and YouTube, and then started putting them in to practice in the beautiful Willamette Valley and surrounding areas.
I started out photographing everything, which included portraits, macros, landscape, cityscape, and anything else you can think of. During those early stages I wasn't really thinking in terms of types (e.g. landscape, portraits, etc.), rather I was just out exploring new concepts and scenes hoping to improve.
After a year or so I naturally started shooting more and more landscapes, and discovered that to be an area that I was most passionate about. Photography has definitely been one of my biggest motivations to get out and explore, and has led to many fun trips and adventures. It's also deepened my appreciation for the uniqueness that each season brings. I mainly shoot within a few hours of the Willamette Valley, which takes me anywhere from the Oregon coast to Central Oregon.
I occasionally go out by myself, but you'll otherwise find me with my wife, daughter, and/or pup.
